Argentina program – 4 days and 3 nights tour

BUENOS AIRES

From September 2019 to May 2020

Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina. Modern and authentic, the city is passionate so are its people. This
module is the reflection of what Buenos Aires has best to offer.

DAY 1 – BUENOS AIRES IN

  • Arrival at Aeroparque local airport.
  • Reception by your guide and transfer to the hotel PALO SANTO or similar accommodation.
  • End of the day at leisure.
  • Lunch and dinner not included.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 – BUENOS AIRES – CITY TOUR

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • 9am: Departure for a city tour of Buenos Aires (6 hours).
  • You will discover the heart of the city: the Plaza de Mayo. Around it are the historic Cabildo (Town Hall) where
    the movement for independence from Spain was first planned; the Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace), and the
    Metropolitan Cathedral where is buried the General San Martín. Near the Plaza you can find theatres and a
    commercial area. Then you will discover the 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest in the world. You will also discover
    the main Avenues of Buenos Aires: Corrientes Avenue, known as the entertainment centre, a street of theatres
    and nightlife; de Mayo Avenue, with a strong Spanish influence; the Florida Street, where you may enjoy a
    tango demonstration in the street.
  • You will come into the Café Tortoni, one of the most iconic café of Buenos Aires. This typically “Porteño Café”
    was created in 1858 by a French immigrant named Touan. The place was frequented by a group of painters,
    writers, journalists and musicians. Jose Luis Borges a famous argentine poet and Carlos Gardel, the father of
    Tango used to go there. You will take a coffee in this historic venue.
  • You will continue to La Boca. Its name (“The Mouth”) is due to its location: at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata
    where the Riachuelo flows. It was the historic port of Buenos Aires before it was moved further north of the city
    for technical reasons (shallow water, sandbanks…). The district was the refuge of the immigrants, especially
    Italians between 1880 and 1930. Nowadays, La Boca owes its popularity to the street “Caminito”, where there
    are heaps of small humble houses, made of coloured sheet metal. It is the Argentine painter Quinquela Martin,
    native of the district, who is at the origin of the first mismatched paintings of the small street.
  • Then, head towards La Recoleta: Here one gets to know why Buenos Aires is considered as the “Paris of
    Latin America”;. Exquisite and refined, this place offers a lot of monuments and museums. You will visit the
    Cemetery where Evita Perón is buried. Many of the monuments of this cemetery were declared National
    Monuments. Around the cemetery, there are bars and restaurants, places where Argentinians like to gather
    themselves after a working day.

OPTIONAL
EXCLUSIVE OPERA CONCERT

Finish the city tour with an exclusive opera concert in a historical place of the capital. In front of you, several
singers with impressive voices and musicians who will make you discover the landscapes of Argentina through
typical songs and rhythms of the country. From Salta to Patagonia and Buenos Aires, discover a whole new part
of Argentina’s musical culture thanks to these magnificent lyric voices.
Important: from 45min to 1 hour.

  • Lunch not included (stop at a traditional restaurant during the city tour and order empanadas).
  • 3pm: return to the hotel.
  • End of the afternoon at leisure.
  • Dinner not included.

OPTIONAL
DINNER AND TANGO SHOW

  • Experience the birth of the tango and its evolution through the 20 th century.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 – BUENOS AIRES – DAY AT LEISURE

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Day at leisure.
  • Lunch not included.

OPTIONAL
GAUCHO RANCH DAY

  • Pick-up: between 8:15 and 8:30am.
  • Departure for San Antonio de Areco (about 1:45h from Buenos Aires), a village full of gaucho traditions.
  • You will walk in the typical streets and visit the museum Ricardo Guiraldes, a gaucho poet. The museum is ideally installed in an estancia of the eighteenth century. This museum has a fine collection of silverware and everyday objects that tell the life of the gauchos.
  • It is the mythical region of gauchos. La Pampa has always been a privileged place for raising cattle in large properties called estancias.
  • Arrival at the typical Argentinian Estancia “La Porteña”. During the day you can enjoy the Pampa of Buenos Aires, and discover the life of the “gauchos”
  • Welcome Ceremony with typical “empanadas” (meat pies) and wine. Visit to the main house, bedroom and study of Ricardo Güiraldes, that had very close links with the Gaucho world. It is particularly visible in his novel Don Segundo Sombra.
  • You will then have a visit-guided horse-rides through the woods, inside the Estancia, and around the agriculture and ranching countryside. (Also possible to do a “Sulky” rides (horse-drawn carriages))
  • Lunch included: “Asado” a typical Argentinian barbecue.
  • In the afternoon, enjoy a Creole Skill Show: including “carreras de sortijas” and “cuadreras” (creole ring and
    horse races) which shows all the special skills that a gaucho has with their horses…
  • Teatime or ¨Mateada¨: Next to the Big “Fogón” or under the Big Cedar Tree: Creole Cakes and “alfajores” (biscuits filled with “dulce de leche”- milk jam). Coffee, mate and tea. Accompanied by a traditional gaucho that plays guitar as sample of the argentine folklore.
  • Return to Buenos Aires.
  • Drop off: between 6 and 6:30pm.
  • 8pm: Dinner at the local restaurant “Bajo Llave”.
  • Return to the hotel at 10pm approximately.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4 – BUENOS AIRES OUT

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Day at leisure.
  • Lunch and dinner not included.

OPTIONAL
A DAY IN TIGRE DELTA (5 hours)

  • Pick-up: 9am.
  • Departure to Tigre and Delta Paraná. Our trip goes to the Northern part of the city. As we pass through the parks of Palermo and the beautiful buildings, we can feel the beautiful atmosphere of the biggest neighbourhood of the Argentinean capital. You will continue to the north passing by the small upper-class city of San Isidro and its Cathedral built at the end of the 19 th century.
  • Arrival to Tigre.
  • Regular navigation (1 hour) through the Paraná Delta. In a quiet, stable and safe route you will go into the islands and islets labyrinth full of rivers and streams. You will learn about the life in the island, recreation and aquatic sports.
  • Return to Tigre’s harbor.
  • Important: navigation in regular service with English-speaking guide.
  • Return to Buenos Aires by land at 2pm.
  • 5:30pm: transfer to Ezeiza international airport.
