Our History
QUIMBAYA – The name of an ancient pre-Columbian tribe, the expertise and efficiency of a team, the stamp of a company, the passion of a continent.
In 1987, Claudia Terrade founded Quimbaya Tours in Bogotá, Colombia to introduce her home country as a new destination to French travelers. Later in 1988, Jean Terrade joined this passion and together they created Quimbaya Latin America.
In honor of the dedication of this ancient pre-Columbian tribe, the name QUIMBAYA has spread throughout Latin America and today is the mark of quality of the network of 11 companies solidly built by efficient, experienced and reliable teams.
The Poporo Quimbaya, on display at the Gold Museum in Bogotá, is one of the most emblematic pieces of this pre-Columbian culture, and the symbol of the company's longevity which, since 1987, has become the reference for all travel agents from all over the world, eager to help its customers discover the wonders of the Latin American continent.
