The “Cabeceras Rurales y Sostenibles” project in the Guanacaste region was born out of a simple realization: local Costa Rican communities need support, and who better than a specialized, local tourism professional to provide this economic support and keep their ancestral traditions alive? This rural project brings together several farming families who cultivate coffee and cocoa in a sustainable way.
Quimbaya Latin America offers travelers the chance to visit the plantations, take part in the harvest and taste the fresh produce on site. This home-cooked lunch is a unique opportunity to share a convivial moment with the families and discover their simple way of life, far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The Mollejones community, a new sustainable project for Quimbaya Latin America
Keen to innovate and offer ever more enriching experiences, Quimbaya Latin America is adding a new immersion program to its Costa Rica programs this year, in the community of Mollejones, located in the Turrialba mountains.
Made up of some 200 inhabitants, this dynamic community has also preserved its traditions and agricultural know-how. Here, travellers can discover the daily life of the local inhabitants by taking part in atypical activities, such as cooking classes where they learn to bake tortillas in the traditional way, for example. Or sugarcane experiments they won’t soon forget.
Mollejones offers an authentic and unforgettable immersion in Costa Rican culture, far off the beaten tourist track.
And for an even more immersive experience, travelers have the option of spending a night in a local’s home, an excellent way to experience the rhythm of life in this endearing and fascinating community.
