Day 1 Arrival at San José

Welcome to arrival from your guide and transfer to the hotel

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: The service and times of arrival transfers are based on the schedules of the Iberia

Day 2 San José / National Park Tortuguero

Early morning departure in collective transportation for Guapiles, in the Tortuguero region.

During the trip, experience first contact with the nature of Costa Rica as you cross the bananas plantations. Arrival at Cano Blanco / La Pavona. This is followed by boarding a large motorized pirogue on regular service to navigate
the main canal that runs along the coast to the Tortuguero National Park, in the middle of the tropical forest.

Installation and lunch at the lodge

In the afternoon, walk in the typical village of the Caribbean littoral

Day 3 National Park Tortuguero

Breakfast in hotel

Departure early in the morning and visit the jungle canals of the Tortuguero National Park, where you will meet numerous animals including: crocodiles, turtles, monkeys, iguanas, toucans, parrots and many different birds.
Discover the jungle and explore walking through the paths, accompanied by your guide.

Lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon, departure and discovery by boat, of this Amazon park. Returning to the lodge, you can relax at the pool and visit the botanical gardens.

At the end of the afternoon, (if the group is made up of more than 10 travelers) you can look forward to tasting the Caribbean flavors accompanied by a musical melody "calypso". You will be served a typically Caribbean drink made of ginger, lemon juice and sugar cane, known locally as "agua de sapo", translated from "water toad", and a tuck into "Patty" (a special spicy Caribbean cake). You will be immersed in this new reality.

 

IN OPTION :From June to October you come to see the turtle's laying eggs. As night falls, accompanied by your guide, you will reach the beach in a small group to have an emotional experience of this incredible moment in a turtle’s life.

During October and November, it is the season of birth in Tortuguero. Undoubtedly, it is the most exciting season of the year. You will be fascinated by the discovery of these little turtles coming out of the sand.

Day 4 Tortuguero / La Fortuna / Volcano Arenal

Breakfast at the lodge.

Return by boat to Cano Blanco / Pavona, and continue on the way to Guapiles. Lunch is served in a typical restaurant. Departure to the North West of the country to the city La Fortuna, located at the foot of the volcano Arenal, an emblematic site of Costa Rica, due to its perfect conical shape. Installation at the hotel.

 

IN OPTION: Hot springs water
Soak in the late afternoon bath in the thermal waters of. Its naturally warm pools of water will impress you, together with a memorable view of the park and volcano. Dinner in the restaurant near the thermal pools.

Day 5 Arenal Volcano National Park

Breakfast in hotel

Morning dedicated to visiting the Arenal Volcano National Park. Walk on the trails of the volcano to get to the area of the dry lava. Crossing the suspension bridges you can appreciate the wonderful scenery of the park and the enchanted sounds of the forest. Lunch is not included.

Then, meet with a Costa Rican family, to know their way of life and learn their habits and customs, and their local specialties. You will witness a demonstration of a "trapiche", and then you can admire the traditional way of grinding sugar cane.

IN OPTION: Hanging bridges.
Visit 250 hectares of primary forest reserve and take advantage of the 15 suspension bridges (between 5 and 100 meters) to observe the fauna and flora of the Arenal, with the perspective from a height, à traverso 3 km.
You can contemplate the vegetation and animals that your expert guide will help you locate. The bridges are made of aluminum and steel, to ensure maximum safety. Accessible to all.

Day 6 Arenal / Rincon de la Vieja

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure for the region of Guanacaste, one of the warmest tropical flatlands in the country. It is a region of cattle breeding in the large property. These are guys who are real "cow boys." Visit to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, classified as the Patrimonio Natural of Unesco. Walk in the vast park, rare geological wonder on the planet. The earth opens into seething craters that showcase the current activity of the volcano. During the visit you can admire a dense forest inhabited by howler monkeys.

The order of visits to the Rincon de la Vieja Park can be changed by the park management.

Day 8 Rincon de la Vieja / Sarchi / San Jose

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to San Jose. Visit the village of Sarchi, famous for its crafts, made from the region's fine and colorful wood. Lunch at a local restaurant during the excursion (Lunch Not included). Continue on to visit San Jose, a perfect
example of a Central American capital, with its architecture that mixes modern palaces with the Republican style of the late 19th century. In the Barrio Amon, you will see the ancient houses of the Barons of Coffee that demonstrate the great wealth of the country.

Day 9 San Jose OUT

Breakfast at the hotel.

Panoramic view and visit of the main districts and buildings of the capital, such as the Teatro Nacional. Walk in the Sabana Park where Los Ticos (how the inhabitants are called) come for a walk.

 

IN OPTION instead of City Tour:
Visit one of Costa Rica's best-known sights, one of the largest plantations in the country, located on the slopes of the Poas volcano. During this tour, you will discover the different stages of coffee preparation, from the plant to cup.
You will visit the plantation first, where your guide will explain the cultivation of coffee as well as the harvesting process. You will then head to the small plantation factory, the place where the magic happens! The freshly harvested coffee beans from the plant will be processed there until you get the final product. You will end the visit with a tasting of different coffees (with English translator and guide available in Spanish)
