Quimbaya Latin America in Panama: learning to travel differently by getting closer to local people

Quimbaya Latin America takes you to discover Panamá, the gateway to the Americas, which for over 3 million years has naturally united North and South America, creating a migratory bridge for flora and fauna. The Isthmus of Panama, well known to all, divides the ocean into two parts, creating the Caribbean Sea and the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean.

Whether at Lake Bayano or in the Capira mountains, you’ll find exclusive new activities.

Discover how Quimbaya Latin America opens the door to unprecedented encounters with local populations and offers authentic experiences far from the beaten track. From immersion in indigenous communities to the discovery of traditional activities, each stop is a promise of sharing and respect for Panamá’s natural and human treasures.

Immersion in the IPETI community

Not far from Lake Bayano, immerse yourself in the Association of Embera Artisan Women (AMARIE), true guardians of Embera traditions but also strongly committed to preserving nature through actions such as reforestation of native forests.

Discover Lake Bayano

Located about two hours from Panamá City, Lake Bayano is the result of the damming of the river of the same name in 1976.
In exclusive partnership with the community, discover Lake Bayano and enjoy an unforgettable experience rich in discovery and sharing, around agrotourism, traditional fishing and the cultivation of various fruits and vegetables emblematic of Panamá.

You’ll also taste the famous Panamanian rum, as well as local cheese and fish from the lake.

Capira: authenticity on a mountainside

Quimbaya Latin America in Panamá also takes you to Capira, located west of Panamá City, about 1h30 from Panamá City.
Surrounded by lush nature, you’ll visit a Robusta coffee farm and the natural waterfall that runs through the plantation. You’ll also discover the farm’s second most important crop, pineapples. You’ll rediscover the taste of a pineapple picked on the spot!

In Panama and the 10 other Latin American countries where DMC is present, Quimbaya Latin America owes much of its survival to the support it has given to local projects since it began in 1987.
